Our confidential shelter is staffed 24-hours a day, and provides for all basic needs, including food, clothing, personal care items, bus tickets and emergency needs. In addition, as with all New Beginnings programs, shelter residents receive agency core services.

Our shelter staff has able to provide safe shelter to more than 1,000 women and their children, as well as more than 2,500 hours of support group services.

  • Shelter services include:

  • Emergency food, clothing and shelter

  • Individual advocacy

  • Weekly in-house support groups on a variety of subjects

  • Groups for youth aged 7 and up

  • Medical screenings

  • Outside referrals for counseling, housing, day care, and local community resources

  • Legal advocacy

  • Assistance with school enrollment


 Since Shepherd’s Rest opened in 1997, we have:

  • Have helped encourage and enroll 24 women in Chattahoochee Technical College, 1 in Vogue Beauty School, and helped numerous other ladies obtain their driver’s license and/or GED since the shelter opened in 1997.

  • Helped locate long-term housing for 81 of our families.

  • Have helped 96 Paulding County families, including 238 children, with toys, food, and clothing during our Christmas outreach

  • Have presented 34 families with used cars donated that were donated to Shepherd’s Rest.
